Skills Book Covers

This series of newly published student readers reaches thousands of students across school districts in California, Texas, and Florida. It features authentic texts originally written in Spanish and serves as content-rich material for teaching units such as Poetry and Contemporary Fiction. Given the large scope of the project and the amazing work done by all the illustrators involved, every book deserved a cover that did justice to the incredible interior art and stories.

A Collaging Exercise

For this project, I was tasked with creating cover iterations in parallel with the illustrators, utilizing all available artwork from the interior pages. The collaging process begins with reading the story several times to fully understand its essence, followed by selecting and combining elements from various parts of the book to create the final composition. In total, I developed twenty-four covers, which became a fun and rewarding creative exercise.

Adventures in Hawaii

Special mention for this title, for which I had the opportunity to art direct and, along with the main illustrator, help shape it into its final form. The concept behind it is a mix of photorealistic assets and watercolor illustrations that pay homage to elements of Hawaiian culture and the natural beauty of the Hawaiian islands.
